PLEASE NOTE: The information below is provided in order to give you some basic instructions for using/configuring Postini spam and virus filtering. However, if you log in to the Postini "Message Center" (below), you will see that it is fairly straightforward and simple to use. And within the Message Center, you will see a "Help" link which provides detailed information about each feature of Postini. So you might want to log in and take a look at the Message Center first, then return here if you have questions.
ABOUT THE POSTINI MESSAGE CENTER
The Postini Message Center is where suspected spam or virus messages are stored (quarantined). It is also where you can adjust your Postini spam and virus filter settings. Although your email account is already set to use Postini to block spam and viruses, you are provided with configuration options for adjusting Postini to your liking.
To configure your spam/virus settings, or to check your quarantined messages, log in to your Message Center by entering your email address and email password below. Then click the "Login to Spam Settings" button.
HANDLING QUARANTINED MESSAGES
After logging in, the first thing you should see is your quarantined messages, if you have any. You can decide what you want to do with each message. You can remove the message, or you can have it delivered to your regular email box. If you choose to have it delivered, you will be asked if all messages from that sender should be delivered. If you say yes, then messages from that sender will not be quarantined in the future. If you take no action on a message, it will be deleted automatically after 14 days.
CONFIGURING YOUR SPAM SETTINGS
To configure your spam settings, click on the "Junk Email Settings" link. Near the top of the screen, you will see that you can turn "Junk Email Blocking" ON or OFF. If you turn it off (not suggested), all mail will be delivered to your regular e-mail box, including all spam.
You can select how lenient or aggressive you want Postini to be in blocking all potential spam by choosing an option next to "Bulk Email". In addition, you will see four common categories of spam listed. For example, "explicit" is one category, and "get rich quick" is another. You can set the aggressiveness for each of these individual categories. When you are finished, click the "Save Changes" button.
You can also add email addresses to your "Approved Senders" list or your "Blocked Senders" list. If you approve a sender, his/her email should always be delivered to your email account. If you block a sender, his/her email should always be quarantined. To approve or block a sender, type the sender's email address in the appropriate space and click the "Save to List" button. You can also add an entire domain to either list. For example, if you wanted email from any atnmaxx.com email address to be delivered to you, you would add atnmaxx.com to your Approved Senders list.
CONFIGURING YOUR VIRUS SETTINGS
Postini will block all email messages suspected of containing a virus. To configure your virus scanning settings, click on the "Virus Settings" link. Near the top of the screen, you will see that you can turn "Virus Protection" ON or OFF. However, although it appears that you can turn Virus Protection off, our system will override that request. Virus protection is always on for your email account, no matter what you select for that option.
You can select how often you would like to be notified (at your regular email account) if you have received messages suspected of containing a virus. Under "Notifications", select your desired frequency and click the "Save" button.
