Congratulations! If you are viewing this page, then you have probably recently signed up for a new ATNMAXX.COM Internet access account. If so, then your account has been automatically created on our system. Next, you will need to configure your computer to connect to the Internet. And, if applicable, you will need to create and/or configure your email account. Please follow the steps below...

 

STEP 1 - CONNECT TO THE INTERNET

With ATNMAXX.com, you can connect to the Internet by using our simple setup program and dialer, which will configure your computer for you. Or you can set up your connection manually, using programs that are already built in to your computer. Our setup program works with all version of Windows. If you use anything other than Windows (for example, a Mac or a Linux system), you will need to configure your connection manually. STEP 2 - CREATE AN EMAIL ACCOUNT

If you intend to use our email service (in other words, if you would like an email address ending in "@atnmaxx.com"), then you will need to create that email address. An email address is NOT created for you automatically. Each ATNMAXX.COM customer is allowed up to 2 free email addresses. You can create email addresses from the following page...

IMPORTANT: If you already have an email account outside of our service that you would like to use AND if it is a web-based email account (which means you check your mail by logging into your email account at a web site), then you do not need to create an atnmaxx.com email address. Examples of this type of email account are Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail accounts. All others must create an atnmaxx.com email account. If you have an existing email account through another service and you use an email program like Outlook Express, Mozilla, or Opera to send and receive email, you will need to create an atnmaxx.com email address and change some settings in your email program in order to be able to send email. This is explained further in Step 4 below.

 

STEP 3 - CONFIGURE YOUR EMAIL PROGRAM

If you already have an email account outside of our service that you would like to use AND if it is a web-based email account (which means you check your mail by logging into your email account at a web site), then you do not need to configure an email program. Examples of this type of email account are Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail accounts. If you will be using this type of email account, you may skip Steps 3 and 4.

If you will be using an atnmaxx.com email address and you would like to send and receive email right from our web site, you can do so by logging in with your email address and email password at the top, left corner of the Members Page. If you will be accessing your email account this way, you may skip Steps 3 and 4.

If you will be using an atnmaxx.com email address and you will be using an email program like Outlook Express to send and receive email, you will need to tell that email program what settings it should use. To learn how to configure your email program, please go to the following page...

STEP 4 - VERIFY SMTP AUTHENTICATION

IMPORTANT: Skipping this step will result in errors when sending email!

If you will be accessing your email by logging into your email account at a web site (whether you will be checking an atnmaxx.com email account at our web site or checking an outside email address at another web site), then you do not need to configure an email program or verify SMTP Authentication. All others must verify SMTP Authentication as described below.

Our service uses a process called SMTP Authentication to verify that you are allowed to send email through our system. This is used to assure that "spammers" (senders of unsolicited email) are not using our service to bombard the world with unwanted email. SMTP Authentication simply means that we check your email username (your email address) and your email password each time you send a message. Your email program needs to be configured correctly in order to accomplish this. In many email programs, this requires a separate procedure in addition to the one in Step 3 above.
