Email Program Settings for Sending Mail

NOTE:  If you log into your email account at our web site, by entering your email address and password at the top, left part of the page, you do not need to use the instructions below. Also, if you don't use our email service and you use a web-based email service like Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail, you do not need to use these instructions. If you don't use our email service but you do use an email program like Outlook Express, Netscape, or Opera please click here for instructions that apply to you. The information below is for those who use an email program like Outlook Express, Netscape, or Opera to send and receive email and also use an atnmaxx.com email address.

In order to send mail from your email program, you will need to make a change in your settings. Please follow the instructions for your particular email program below...

OUTGOING EMAIL SETTINGS:

  • Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server = smtp.atnmaxx.com

  • Outgoing Email User Name = ( your entire email address )

  • Outgoing Email Password = ( your email password )

DETERMINING YOUR PROGRAM VERSION:

  • Click Help at the top of your email program.

  • Click About Outlook Express (or About Netscape, About Communicator, About Opera, etc.).

  • You should see your program version listed there.

  • Click the OK button (or click the Back button in Netscape).

OUTLOOK EXPRESS:

  • Click Tools at the top of Outlook Express, then click Accounts.

  • Click the Mail tab at the top of the box that pops up.

  • Click on your email account, to highlight it, then click the Properties button on the right.

  • Click the Servers tab at the top.

  • Check the box that says "My server requires authentication".

  • Make sure that "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is NOT checked.

  • Click the Apply button at the bottom, then click OK.

  • Click the Close button at the bottom.

NETSCAPE 4

  • Click Edit at the top of Netscape, then click Preferences at the bottom of the list.

  • Click on the "plus sign" next to Mail and Newsgroups on the left side of the box that pops up.

  • Click on Mail Servers on the left side.

  • On the right side, enter your entire email address for the Outgoing Mail Server Username.

  • Under Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL), select Never.

  • Click the OK button at the bottom.

  • Note: The next time you attempt to send a message, you will be asked to enter a password.
    At that point, enter your email password.

NETSCAPE 6

  • Click Tasks at the top of Netscape, then click Mail.

  • Click Edit at the top of the Netscape Mail screen, then click Mail/News Account Settings.

  • Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side.

  • On the right side, check the box that says "Always use name and password".

  • Enter your entire email address for the User Name.

  • Under Use Secure Connection (SSL), select Never.

  • Click the OK button at the bottom.

  • Note: The next time you attempt to send a message, you will be asked to enter a password.
    At that point, enter your email password.

NETSCAPE 7

  • Click Edit at the top of Netscape, then click Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings.

  • Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side.

  • On the right side, check the box that says "Use name and password".

  • Enter your entire email address for the User Name.

  • Under Use Secure Connection (SSL), select Never.

  • Click the OK button at the bottom.

  • Note: The next time you attempt to send a message, you will be asked to enter a password.
    At that point, enter your email password.

EUDORA

  • Click Tools at the top of Eudora, then click Options.

  • Click on Getting Started on the left side.

  • Check the Allow authentication box at the bottom.

  • Click the OK button at the bottom.

OPERA 7

  • Click Mail at the top of Opera, then click Manage accounts.

  • Click on your email account, to highlight it, then click the Edit button on the right.

  • Click the Servers tab at the top.

  • Under Outgoing SMTP server, enter the following...

    • Server = smtp.atnmaxx.com
    • Port number = 25
    • The Secure Connection box should NOT be checked
    • Authentication (if this item is displayed) = Auto
    • Username = your entire email address
    • Password = your email password
  • Click the OK button at the bottom.

OPERA 8

  • Click Mail at the top of Opera, then click Mail and Chat Accounts.

  • Click on your email account, to highlight it, then click the Edit button on the right.

  • Click the Servers tab at the top.

  • Under Outgoing SMTP server, enter the following...

    • Server = smtp.atnmaxx.com
    • Port number = 25
    • The Secure Connection box should NOT be checked
    • Authentication (if this item is displayed) = Auto
    • Username = your entire email address
    • Password = your email password
  • Click the OK button at the bottom.

MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD

  • Click Tools at the top of Thunderbird, then click Account Settings.

  • Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) on the left side.

  • On the right side, highlight your email account and click the Edit button.

  • Make sure the Server Name is:  smtp.atnmaxx.com

  • Check the box that says "Use name and password".

  • Enter your entire email address for the User Name.

  • Under Use Secure Connection (SSL), select No.

  • Click the OK button at the bottom, then click OK again.

  • Note: The next time you attempt to send a message, you will be asked to enter a password.
    At that point, enter your email password.
